SMM designed and supervised the construction of a national level mountain bike racecourse for the 2017 Canada Summer Games held in Winnipeg. The design incorporated various technical trail features and popular flow trails with berms, rollers and jumps that attract riders of all ages. The trails allow for progression of rider ability with features that challenge elite racers and alternate easier routes for developing riders. The hallmark rock feature of the facility, known as the Horn, includes a by-pass for beginners, an intermediate route, and a faster expert route.

Bison Butte is now the hub for the mountain biking community in Winnipeg and has provided a legacy facility for the community. The facility is being used by Winnipeg’s Kids of Mud youth mountain biking program as well as the Manitoba Provincial Cycling Team. These programs target kids ranging age from 5 to 18. In the winter, the facility is enjoyed by people on snowshoes or cross-country skis and hosting winter fat bike races.
