Informed by a robust community engagement process, public pop-up events, focus group sessions, and key interviews helped to define and develop guiding principles, design directions, and finalize the design program.

Using community-informed design directions, the concept encourages year-round programming, flexible performance spaces to accommodate events at different scales and muti-functional spaces, including a covered stage area. It celebrates the community’s identity, culture, and history through its choice of materials, public art, and natural elements, while considering safety and accessibility.

The concept includes an urban plaza, market area, and a multi-use covered performance space. This new waterfront hub is intended to be a dynamic, welcoming gathering space that activates the downtown and celebrates the city’s authentic and unique identity. Through our approach of placemaking, the design of the space will bring people together and allow them to engage, connect, and celebrate year-round.
