Scatliff + Miller + Murray undertook a comprehensive consultation program to identify community needs, local concerns, obtain feedback, suggestions, and ideas on preliminary concept design, and to prioritize new facilities for this urban site. Extensive site analysis and historic research, along with thorough public consultation and review, helped inform the design of the new Central Park. The design strategy, with such a diversity of spaces, became the necessary formula to inspire far more active neighborhood use.

The consultation program included one-on-one meetings and workshops with 35 community stakeholder groups, and two open house events to present the preliminary and final park design. Central Park has re-become the focal point of the Central Park community, providing a green oasis within the urban surroundings.
